Jimmy Page Ready To Tour

Jimmy Page expresses his desire to tour again with Led Zeppelin. Coming off their successful reunion show 12-10-07, Page says he looks forward to hitting road, but most likely not until the fall of 2008.

While in Japan promoting the latest Led Zeppelin release 'Mothership' Page said they rehearsed rigorously for the show and once they started jamming the chemistry was the same as its always been.

"The amount of work we put into O2 was what you would normally put into a world tour anyway," Page, 64, said of the intense rehearsing the band did for the Dec. 10 concert at London's O2 Arena.

Page believed the reunion show, the first in 20 years, proved they could still Rock & Roll with the same voracity and chemistry as in the early days of Led Zeppelin.

The tour would have to wait at least until Sept 2008 as Robert Plant is touring to promote his new album with Alison Krause 'Raising Sand' which was released this past October.

Led Zeppelin Going Digital

Next month Led Zeppelin will release their back catalog online. Starting Nov 13th their songs will be made available via online stores, the same day they are releasing a retrospective 2 CD disc set titled 'MOTHERSHIP'

Guitarist Jimmy Page said, "We are pleased that the complete Led Zeppelin catalog will now be available digitally. The addition of the digital option will better enable fans to obtain our music in whichever manner that they prefer."

At the same time Led Zeppelin has signed a deal with Verizon Wireless to offer some of their songs as ringtones and downloads to mobile devices.

Also, on Nov. 26th the band will be renuiting for a show in London. Led Zeppelin will be made up of the original 3 surviving members as well as Jason Bonham (Johns son) on drumz. More than 1 million fans entered a drawing for a chance to buy one of the 10,000 tickets to the show. The concert is a tribute to Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun, who died last year.

Using the name The New Yardbirds, the band was formed on 1968 by Jimmy Page. The New Yardbirds consisted of Page, vocalist Robert Plant, drummer John Bonham, and former Yardbirds bassist Chris Dreja, but Dreja left early in the project to become a photographer (and would later take the photograph that appeared on the back of the group's debut album). He was replaced by Page's long-time friend John Paul Jones. Page's first choice as singer, Terry Reid, declined the opportunity but recommended Plant, who accepted and then brought in his old friend Bonham from the defunct Band of Joy.

After some concerts with this line-up billed variously as the New Yardbirds or sometimes simply The Yardbirds, the band's name was changed to Led Zeppelin, after The Who's drummer Keith Moon quipped that the band would go down faster than a "lead balloon" (the comment is also frequently attributed to Who bassist John Entwistle.) The group adopted the name, deliberately misspelling the first part to prevent people from pronouncing it as "leed."
