Phish guitarist Trey Anastasio and bass player Mike Gordon staged a mini-reunion early Sunday evening at Rothbury's Odeum stage. The reunion actually became a three-quarter reunion when drummer Jon Fishman jumped behind the kit at the end of Mike Gordon's set for a cover of the Beatles' "She Said She Said." Gordon hopped on stage for a handful of songs during Anastasio's solo acoustic set, playing bass and singing backup vocals on "Alaska" and "Chalkdust Torture," among others. The scheduling was convenient, since Gordon was scheduled to perform at the nearby Sherwood Court stage a few minutes after Anastasio's set ended (where Anastasio also joined Gordon's band). Phish, a wildly successful jam act, broke up in 2004, though in recent interviews, members have hinted at the likelihood of getting back together. Sunday's mini-reunion will certainly add fuel to that fire. Drummer Jon Fishman also performed at Rothbury with the Yonder Mountain String Band on Friday. Stay tuned.... This could get interesting |

1983 The band was started by Trey, Fish, Mike and Jeff Holdsworth, all Engineering Majors at the University of Vermont.. They practice in the dorm lounge and make a demo tape. The band plays a party in October and their first official gig as Phish in the basement of Slade Hall at UVM in November, 1984. They use a hockey stick as a mic stand, play "Proud Mary" twice, "Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress" once, and eventually are shut down so that a Michael Jackson tape can be played. 1985 Page officially joins the band
